The Lions Clubs International Board of Directors is composed of 34 international directors. Together, they serve our association by:
- Supervising all officers and committees of the board and association.
- Managing association business, property and funds.
- Preparing and approving the association’s fiscal year budget.
International directors serve for two years and are designated as either first year directors or second year directors.
First year Directors
SANGEETA JATIA
INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR
Sangeeta Jatia, from Kolkata, West Bengal, India, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 95th International Convention, held in Busan, Korea, June 22 through 26, 2012.
Director Jatia is an economics graduate from Calcutta University.
A member of the Calcutta Midtown Lions Club since 1988, she has held many offices within the association, including club president, district Sight First chair, district coordinator, vice district governor and multiple district Leadership chair. Additionally, she served as a member of Mission 30 and Team 20K, a GMT area leader, on the DGE Seminar Faculty and as coordinator of the India edition of LION Magazine. She is also a Melvin Jones fellow.
In recognition of his service to the association, she has received numerous awards including Lion of the Year and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor bestowed upon a member by the association.
Director Jatia and her spouse, Arvind, also a Lion, have two children.
SUNIL KUMAR R.
INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR
Sunil Kumar R., from Secunderabad, India, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 95th International Convention, held in Busan, Korea, June 22 through 26, 2012.
Director Kumar is a tourism consultant, marketing and professional trainer.
A member of the Hyderabad North Lions Club since 1985, he has held many offices within the association, including Leo club president, Lions club president, district governor, zone chair, region chair, multiple council treasurer. Additionally, he served as the ISAAME Forum Organizing Committee chairperson. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones fellow.
In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards including the 100% District Governor Award and two International President’s Medallions.
In addition to his Lions activities, Director Kumar is active in numerous professional and community organizations, including as a member of the Federation of AP Chambers of Commerce & Industry and as a Free Mason. In the past, he was active with the Jaycees (Junior Chamber International – JCI) as Indian national president, world vice president and world executive vice president.
Director Kumar and his spouse, Kavitha, also a Lion, have two sons.
Second Year Directors
JAGDISH GULATI
INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR
Jagdish Gulati, from Allahabad, India, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 94th International Convention, held in Seattle, Washington, USA, July 4 to July 8, 2011.
Director Gulati is an educational entrepreneur.
A member of the Allahabad City Lions Club since 1988, he has held many offices within the association, including club president, zone chair, region chair, district governor, cabinet secretary, multiple council secretary, multiple district leadership chair and area leadership representative. He also served as a trainer and faculty for Senior Lions Leadership Institute, Emerging Lions Leadership Institute, Regional Leadership Institute and the District Governor Elect seminar.
In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards including the 100% President Award, District Governor Excellence Award, Best District Chairperson Award, Best Multiple District Chairperson Award, Best Cabinet Secretary Award, Membership Ambassador Key Award, eleven Club Extension Awards, five International President’s Leadership Awards and four International President’s Medals. He is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lions activities, Director Gulati is active in numerous professional and community organizations, including serving as patron of the U.P. Technical Institutions Foundation and as the additional general secretary of the U.P. Petroleum Traders Association. He is also the founder and past president of the Automobiles Dealers Association.
Director Gulati and his wife, Geeta, also a Lion and a Melvin Jones Fellow, have one son and one daughter.
